AYA: Who We Are

AYA (Austria’s Young Americanists) are a network of young researchers of American Studies, linking up grad students of various research interests and fields. As the young scholars forum of the Austrian Association for American Studies (AAAS) and as a member organization of the bigger European Association for American Studies (EAAS), AYA also welcomes PhD students from international universities to present and participate at the conference.

AYA’s main goal is to enhance communication between (post)grad students of American Studies and interconnect ongoing research projects. Our conference aims to connect young researchers (advanced MA students, PhD students, as well as Post-Docs) and allow them to present their work, and to build networks with peers in the same field.

Currently, the AYA board consists of six PhD students from the following universities in Austria: Alexandra Hauke (Vienna), Roberta Hofer (Innsbruck), Silke Jandl (Graz), Armin Lippitz (Klagenfurt), Barbora Orlická (Graz), and Christian Stenico (Innsbruck).
